Our giant redhead is ready to start the search for his forever home. Listen close though because he has a few quirks and we need to make sure he finds the right home. First of all, he’s big. He’s still a little underweight at the moment but he’s gaining and he will be over 100 pounds. It doesn’t mean he needs a mansion or a ranch or a huge home but if you live in a smaller place then really consider how another 100+ pound being will fit in. Second, Beef is a gigantic baby. He’s sensitive and even though he loves other dogs, he gets worried when they approach him too quickly or if they’re mean to him. He has been around dogs of both genders, large and small, but his ideal doggie friends will be easy going, calm and friendly. Beef is also very sensitive to pain so getting vaccinations or other vet care can be a chore. Again, he’s not mean but holding a giant dog that wants to run away from the needle is an interesting experience. A relationship with your vet and understanding of Beef’s needs before he actually has to have anything done would be ideal. Lastly, he is improving but Beef is not the biggest fan of being alone. He wasn’t able to climb a 6 ft fence but he’s certainly given it his best shot. He was also quite vocal the first few days with us. We actually did some crate training with Beef and he not only going in voluntarily now, but he is calm, quiet and content when left alone there. Beef is using some medication for his ears but he’s doing great and he is a big fan of having wet food mixed in with his dry. Does it sound like he’s the one for you? He’ll be at the rescue in Fillmore, CA on Saturday for adoptions! Contact us with any questions.
