Meet handsome man Bernie! We took these pictures on the day he came to us from the animal shelter with burns on his feet and wounds all over his head and neck. He looked pretty heartbreaking but he was such an upbeat, happy and fun guy! He’s finally healed and he’s been neutered so the search for a home has begun! He’s about 3-4 years old, on the tall side and ready for an active life with an awesome family. We have never seen him around children so we can’t specifically recommend him for that kind of home but we haven’t had any problems with him and people so he should at least be great in an adult home or one with teenagers. We originally assumed that Bernie would have dog social issues because of the apparent bite wounds but he’s spent this past week in a temporary foster home with other dogs and things have been going well. He was a little tense and intense at first but he has since settled in and will even play. He would probably do best with a larger female dog in a Dobie savvy home. Bernie has done amazingly well with crate training, quiet, well behaved and super smart. Training should be fun and rewarding with this guy and his potential is endless if someone is willing to work for it. We love Bernie and can’t wait to see him find a new home!
