This is a courtesy post for a male Doberman named Bodie who needs a new home.  He is located in San Mateo, CA (northern California) and you can contact his owners at mariabaker811@gmail.com for more information.  Please note that this dog is not being placed by us so all responsibilities rest with the individual parties.

Bodie is a 5/12 year old neutered male, who originally lived in San Francisco and spent lots of time socializing with other dogs and people -- he loves the beach and long hikes, and it happiest when he's with his family. Although he currently lives with two small children, and is gentle and affectionate with them, we think it's best that his future household be mostly child-free, as unknown children seem to make him skittish. That being said, we've never met a more cuddly, affectionate boy, and he is extremely loyal and loving to the people in his immediate circle. His current family is searching for a home for him that is a better fit, as they have twin toddlers and cannot provide him with the care, exercise, or space he needs. Bodie recently got out the front door after one of the toddlers opened it, jumped the front fence and nipped at woman walking her dog. Unfortunately this is the second such incident, the first being just after the new babies had come home and were being taken on a walk in their stroller -- he got out into front yard just as someone was walking by and nipped them as well. During both of these incidents he is extremely vocal, circles the person passing by, and always sends one warning nip or "pitch" then backs off. It's apparent that Bodie has a strong drive to protect his family.

Bodie is extremely smart, easy to train, and should to be challenged and active. He's happiest indoors after an active day where we can keep tabs on all of his "people," he's definitely not a yard dog. The big guy really is an incredible looking Doberman, he's tall and slender, and a whooping 95 pounds of lean muscle. He thinks he's a lap dog, and currently sleeps at the foot of his owner's bed. We feel strongly that in the right environment, with a sense of purpose and experienced owner, Bodie will provide the best companionship and make some new family very, very happy.
