Boogie is a new arrival from his owner on November 14, 2020. He's a smallish 7-year-old fawn male who presented to us as shy and insecure, but apparently that all changes when he is confronted with another dog close by on leash. This was likely the root of the problem at his home: when he behaves aggressively toward another dog he may "redirect" his aggression at his owner or whoever is walking him. It seems that the simplest answer would be to make sure he gets plenty of exercise and stimulation at home in his yard, but perhaps that wasn't an option for his owners, and since he's somewhat overprotective of his home and owners anyway, it might preclude his success in a home with many visitors as well. On the plus side, Boogie is housebroken, and good with cats as well as kids, though once again we'd be concerned that kids typically have friends over and Boogie might or might not be ok with that. Ideally, especially at his early-senior age, he would be best paired with an older person or couple, perhaps retirees, who mostly keep their own company and enjoy having a lovable house dog to spend relaxing time with.

Doberman Pinscher
Note: Boogie spent a couple weeks in a foster home and did fantastic.  He needed a little reminder with housebreaking but was otherwise well behaved.  Boogie shared the apartment with a female Dobie and an iguana with no issues.  He does still have some leash reactivity toward other dogs (which is common in Dobies) but he shared his home with the other dog beautifully.
