Burly is a new arrival (July, 2019) from a shelter where he had become a shelter favorite, even gaining the right to sleep on a soft bed in the office of a shelter manager. He's about 9 years old and a great big blue dog with the so-so coat typical of blue Dobies, and with an assortment of lumps typical of older dogs. We expected Burly to be an easy, social older dog, but he surprised us in several ways. Far from being mellow and lazy, he's an active guy who threatens the dogs in adjoining kennels when they get too close to his resting area or his water. Even Burly's kennelmate is intimidated by him, preferring to stay out of his way, partly due to his large size. We think Burly would do best in an adult home without a lot of other canines around, certainly not in HIS territory.
