Doberman Pinscher

Cartier is a dog we recently rescued when we had a call from his owner's distraught sister. Her brother was ill and could no longer take care of his dog, and she feared that at 10 years of age, he didn't stand a chance of being adopted from an animal shelter. Cartier is a white Doberman, often called albino, and his skin shows the negative signs white Dobies often have: small melanomas that have to be watched and controlled, pink nose prone to sunburn, pale eyes that have to be protected from bright sunlight, numerous skin tags, and sensitive skin on elbows and elsewhere. When Cartier arrived, we desperately hoped he would be dog-social so that he could enjoy the freedom of six fenced acres to roam, with access to comfortable resting areas indoors via a doggie door. He excelled at everything expected of him, and more! Though he doesn't initiate play with the other dogs, he is entirely comfortable with them and prefers to take a submissive role or avoid friction entirely. Cartier is extra-large at about 110 pounds, is in good health, and bonds well with the person he views as his human pack leader. A truly exceptional dog!
