Clay was a little corgi/chihuahua mix that we got from a shelter many years ago.  Several years after we placed him with an adoptive family he ended up in an animal shelter and all attempts to contact his owners were unsuccessful.  Now about 10 years old and terrified at the shelter, they didn't feel he was adoptable so we went and picked him up.  It takes a long time to gain Clay's trust and he will bite if he feels defensive.  He came to the sanctuary so he could be in a lower stress environment with fewer people and fewer dogs.  He's enjoying his retirement with lots of belly rubs and spending most of his days lounging on his bed.
