Doberman Pinscher

Duncan landed in an animal shelter a while back and after spending a few weeks there, the volunteers rallied to get him out. He wasn't being noticed and wasn't doing well in the kennels. They got him to us and we hoped to be more successful but we saw a lot of the same bad behaviors which has kept him unnoticed with us as well. He was really reactive towards other dogs that walked by his kennel, he pulled on leash and he liked to dump his water bucket constantly. Lately, we have been working on developing some training skills at the rescue so we can help dogs like Duncan be more adoptable. What we discovered was that Duncan already has a bunch of training, he just needed some leadership to bring it out. With the right energy and the right tools, he goes from a pulling machine to an easily walked sweetheart, even around other dogs. In fact, we have been successful at having him around many other dogs recently with no intent from him to hurt anyone. We still are recommending him for a single dog home though because he doesn't take to challenges well and he is far more relaxed when just hanging with his person. He knows some obedience commands (sit, down, come, stay, and shake) and is a total lovebug! We are hoping to find a home that can continue giving him the leadership he desires so he can give up the crazy and enjoy all that life has to offer. Check out his video here.
