Forrest is a red-Doberman with his natural ears, a cropped tail and soulful honey-colored eyes. He less than 6 months old and recently neutered.

He gets along very well with dogs immediately and is friendly with both men and women after a few minutes of shyness. He is submissive and should be paired with another dog to show him the ropes. He bonds easily with gentle people and other dogs and displays affection by resting his head on your lap or on the back of his dog pal. He loves to have his face petted and ears rubbed and gets very calm when snuggling. He went to a human party and sat quietly with his doggie mentor while many people petted him.

He loves to play and tries really hard to learn the doggie-games and does have bouts of good-natured goofy puppy play in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Otherwise, he remains a total couch potato. He likes to snuggle in the people-bed to sleep but will sleep in his crate when asked. He can tolerate a crate if he is crated with another dog in proximity but cries when crated alone.

He is nearly 100% house trained with accidents becoming infrequent now. He does not pull on a leash and is still learning to heel but since he prefers to be led, completing his leash training should be a snap. He is practicing sit and come commands and is getting better every day. He is highly food motivated and needs work on taking treats more gently.

He will follow his people and dogs around everywhere and is very good at leaning if his target of affection is still. He makes excellent eye contact and has a good nature that is willing to please.

It only took him a couple of tries to learn how to get in and out of the car and he now rides very well (even a long distance of 3 hrs each way to visit family) with and without a crate. He also generally waits for permission to enter and exit doors although I see him eyeballing the kennel gate so I have been very careful with him when I go through.

He does enjoy toys and needs help discriminating the difference between things he can and cannot play with but is making progress with this also. He is certainly learning what "No", "Leave It", and "Give to Me" means but still likes to carry things around in his mouth and squirrel them away in his crate when we are not looking.

He has had great experiences with veterinary care and is not afraid of going to the vet at all. He even gets on the scale and sits really nice while being weighed.

Having another dog is a strong suggestion. I am not sure about cats or other pets but he just looks at the peacocks and doesn't seem to exhibit a prey drive.

He is such a remarkable dog in every way I can think of even though he is still a young pup and full of curiosity and playfulness. He is going to be a great fit for a family with another dog and bigger children who can be gentle. He is people oriented and must be an indoor dog that is a member of the family.
