Gunner came to us from an animal shelter after "he had been bounced around a few times," per his shelter representative. The only negative thing mentioned was that "he can be dog-selective." What we have observed thus far regarding his behavior is that he puffs himself up when meeting a new dog as if determining if there is a challenge from the other dog, and if not, he relaxes. Gunner even tried to initiate play with a resident male who also likes to play, but when challenged by a medium-sized female terrier with attitude, he shied away. It isn't known if Gunner was originally a stray dog or an owned one, but his age was given as 6 years and he weighs about 77 pounds. Like most large Dobermans, he's strong on leash.
