Hermann came to us from an upstate animal shelter where he was impounded as a stray dog at large. He was initially social at his animal shelter but demanding of attention by jumping and nuzzling for petting. About three weeks later his temperament had become more anxious, pulling on leash to engage with other dogs, believed to be in play but not entirely sure. When he viewed an elderly woman viewing dogs, he offered a deep growl, so we think his default behavior when confronted with unknown people and situations is to be fear-aggressive on some level. Hermann had also exhibited some anxiety when moved on leash, biting the leash and thrashing. Clearly he needs more socialization. Treats seem to be the way to help defuse his anxiety. He's believed to be about 3 years old and is average size for a male.
