Long John Silver is a new arrival (September, 2019) at our rescue ranch, and he's adapting well, though he is insecure about anything that looks new to him. When we bathed him prior to neutering him, it was apparent he had never had a bath before. After arriving at the vet clinic, he worried about exiting his crate because the place was new to him. LJ had been captured, along with the Labradoodle he was running with, by a few dedicated volunteers after two weeks, by gaining the dogs' trust. He was seriously underweight but very dog-social and apparently unaggressive to people. He's a young dog, probably only about 2, and he weighs just over 70 pounds. 80 pounds would be an ideal weight for him, as he's fairly tall, possibly still growing.
