Doberman Pinscher

Nelson was recently returned because he was way too protective for his adoptive home.  He was in a foster home for a little while and did well but it was with a single woman and without a lot of visitors so we didn’t realize the extent of his protectiveness.  Nelson has been able to live peacefully with female dobies in the past, even if they weren’t always well behaved with him so he could be a wonderful companion for another dog.  He is an adult (around 4 years old) with cropped ears that don’t stand but he is quite a handsome boy.  According to his previous home, Nelson was a wonderful boy 99% of the time but he absolutely couldn’t handle having anyone besides his 2 owners around so he needs a quiet home without a lot of people around and one that will take extra precautions when other people come over to the home.  He is a wonderful watchdog and loved his daily hikes.

"When Nelson decides to give you his heart, he gives you his whole heart.  He wants nothing more than to be with you.  He'll love you so much, he'll protect you from anyone he sees as an interloper, including guests.  So he needs a home with few guests, or somewhere where he'll have his own space when friends come over.  He gets along with other dogs, but not always on leash.  Oh, and he is housebroken once he knows he's home.  In the right home, he's an easy keeper."
