Nija is an extra-large (97-pound) 7-year-old Dobie girl who was surrendered to a veterinarian in Oregon because she became nippy with the owner's 5-year-old child. There were no reported injuries, but she isn't
recommended for any home with children, cats or small dogs. Apparently she also nipped the ex-owner's landlord when he entered the apartment when the owners were not home. Nija has some fear-aggression and pretending to be a big, bad guard dog is her go-to behavior when she is alarmed or feels
threatened. Underneath that she seems very sweet and adores human attention. The vet who sheltered her hadn't seen any aggression with people or the other dogs she was around at the clinic, large or small, but she was
in an unusual environment and was a nervous boarder. The vet also said that, other than a little stiffness - possibly from lack of exercise - Nija is able to be very active. She also did a blood panel on Nija and the results
were normal. The vet said she feels Nija is worth saving and would be a great dog with the right owner and in the right home setting, and we agree.
