Doberman Pinscher

Obi is a super special boy who needs an amazing home! He was born in January 2016 and we know him pretty well because he has been with us most of his life. When Obi landed in the animal shelter as a puppy he was on death's doorstep but their wonderful medical staff took great care of him and he survived. He was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy which is a bone disorder found in fast growing, large breed puppies. Loving care, supplements and proper nutrition has helped Obi greatly but we highly recommend that any potential adopters research the condition and talk to their vet. He is in much better shape, gets around perfectly, and can walk several miles but his back legs still show the effects of the disorder. Obi also has a bit of a deformed skull which causes it to be lopsided but it causes no medical or behavioral issues. He is extremely smart, eager to please, housebroken and already has some training under his belt. He can be dominant with some male dogs so we want to see him in a home with a playful female that he can bond with because we don't see him being happy as an only dog. Obi can also be cautious with some new people entering his home or car so proper introductions and further socialization will help him improve but he would also do best in a home without a lot of visitors. This boy is full of so much potential and he is truly a sweetheart even though the young troublemaker in him needs some work and proper guidance. He is in a foster home in southern California but he will be at the rescue in Fillmore for adoptions on Saturdays.
