Penny is a pretty, active 3-year-old Dobie girl who was given up by her owners due primarily to her energy level. They had owned her for almost two months and found that she needed more stimulation and exercise than they could provide, and she wasn't entirely compatible with their older male Boxer, who really preferred a more sedate companion. Penny is in need of training for her house manners and her obedience. An owner who is able to housebreak, teach obedience commands, and keep Penny focused on learning is necessary so that she can be at her best. An environment with a lot of distractions would probably be a disadvantage, since she will actively bark at unfamiliar or anxiety-producing stimuli. She does enjoy chase-and-play behavior with another (preferable male) active dog, but hard play can sometimes result in injury and should be monitored, at least initially.
