Phoenix was a sad sight when he first came in many months ago.  He had a chemical burn of some kind that went all the way down his back from head to tail.  It wasn't the first time we had seen a burn like it but it was certainly the worst we had ever encountered.  He was treated for months in the hospital because the risk of infection was so great.  The emaciated, heartsick boy is a thing of the past though because now Phoenix is big, strong and confident.  He was adopted briefly twice but unfortunately, it didn't work out so we are really looking for that right home for him.  In one home, there was a conflict with the other dog and although Phoenix is generally dog social, he doesn't back down from a challenge.  He would do best with a large female that is fun, happy and social.  The first home fell in love with Phoenix when he was sick so they just weren't really prepared for the guy he is now.  He needs a home that is ready for a strong, adult Doberman that loves to be active and wouldn't necessarily enjoy being cooped up in a house all day while his owners are away.  He needs adventure, leadership, and exercise.  Phoenix is only 4-5 years old with lots of life left in him and although he does have a very large scar down his back, he is a handsome guy.  He can be at the rescue in Fillmore, California any Saturday for adoptions but we need to know ahead of time.
