Rainbow is an extra-large blue Dobie girl whom we rescued from a downstate animal shelter on April 3, 2021. She had been surrendered to her animal shelter for biting a 7-year-old child that startled her, but since her canine teeth had been blunted, the bite did not break skin. Still, the animal shelter preferred seeking rescue for her rather than another adopter. Rainbow is 4 years old, housebroken, crate-trained, and has a moderate energy level. She weighs about 92 pounds, so she'll need a strong adult owner or couple with alpha-dog experience, as Rainbow is a resource-guarder with her food, and she reacts immediately when startled, which is what caused the incident with the child. Her ex-owner stated that she would do best as the only dog in the home since this behavior could be expressed toward another dog as well. Surprisingly, she is said to be social and playful with cats; very unusual for our breed! Rainbow is overall a friendly dog who greets people easily and is well-behaved, though she may display some leash reactivity toward other dogs. We are hoping to learn more about this as we get to know her better.
