We started running together in 2010 in attempt to establish a healthier lifestyle after Stacey was diagnosed with endometrial/uterine cancer in 2007. Although we are “slower” runners, we have been running continuously since that time, completing 49 half marathons, 10 full marathons, numerous 10Ks and 5Ks, and each of us loosing over 50 pounds along the way. Running has definitely changed our lives and is an activity that we enjoy together. While it is uncertain if Stacey will ever be able to have children due to her diagnosis, we have enjoyed a life full of fur-babies, with our current three “kids” coming from our local rescue - Dobies and Little Paws. When we met over 20 years ago, Brian had a doberman (Brandy) and Stacey, having grown up with a dachshund, fell in love with the breed after seeing many similarities. Together we raised a doberman puppy (Heidi) and added our first rescue to the family (Duke) after getting married in 2004. We moved back to California in 2006 and after Heidi passed away at age 14, we found a local rescue to donate many of her beds and toys. However, it wasn’t long before we fell in love with a new companion and added Sasha to the family, followed by Maxx the year after, and most recently Allie (aka Allie-gator). Our current three fur-children have come from the DLP rescue and are the love of our lives. If we are not out running, we are snuggling our babies. We are so excited to be able to run the Santa Clarita Half Marathon and raise money for our rescue!
