Hi! My name is Pippi. About three years ago, at the tender age of one, I found myself homeless and stray on the streets of Pomona. I ended up at the pound and it was scary! I'm still not over it. I ended up at Dobies, and Little Paws (DALP) Rescue. I wasn't too sure what was going on, and I sure didn't like being on a leash. It made me feel so insecure, especially when I saw other dogs. After all, what could I do to defend myself when I was tied to that thing? A few weeks after my arrival at DALP, a girl came and sat with me in a room for a while. I had no idea what was going on and basically ignored her. I was too nervous about my new surroundings. She came back a week later to walk me, and suddenly she was signing something. At that moment, another dog walked by. I got so nervous, I had to bite something, so I bit her leg. She looked a bit confused. Then she forced me into her truck! I didn't know what to think!? I soon realized there was nothing to worry about. She brought me to her house and showed me my new home and yard. I actually got to sleep on the bed! We went back to DALP every week so I could go to Basic K9 training, and wouldn't you know it, I graduated top of my class! Okay, so I was the only one in my class, but I still think I deserve an award. I am a millennial after all! I still get nervous when I'm tied to a leash and I see other dogs, but otherwise, the insecurities of my youth have dissipated. My mom makes up for it by not taking me places where there's other dogs. We've been on some great road trips. Last year, she even brought me a sister, Charlotte. She's not a dobie, but she's got lots of fur so if I get anxious and accidentally bite her, it doesn't hurt her. She's my best friend! I'd say my mom is, but she works a lot, so I spend most of my time with my sis.

So to get to the point, my mom is going to walk at the Santa Clarita Marathon to try to help raise money for my alma mater. My mom can't run; she's an old girl now, 329 in dog years! But, she wants to do her part for me and my sis. Dobies and Little Paws saved our lives, and my mom's too if you really think about it. So please support her by supporting Dobies and Little Paws!
