Topaz is a very handsome new blue Dobie with us, aged at 2 years old. We don't know him at all yet, really, but he failed his temperament test at his animal shelter on their test called "resource guarding." They fail dogs for reasons like "freezing, growling, snapping, threatening, and biting. All dogs that exhibit any of these behaviors automatically fail most temperament tests. Sky Blue had been relinquished by his owners, and though we are unable to speak with them directly, there may have been some issues with another dog or a small child since they recommended Topaz for a home with no other dogs and no small children. On the very positive side, they gave him a "personality code" of purple, which means he's happy-go-lucky, carefree, engaging, adaptive, and cheerful. One thing that we have observed during his short stay with us is that he'll need a secure yard, as he tried to chomp his way out of a temporary kennel where he was housed for a couple of hours while his intended kennel was being made ready. We have discovered that he knows sit and shake.
