Doberman Pinscher

Truffle is a wonderful dog, a favorite of ours. He's close to 3 years old, and he's a big, tall boy who is beautiful except for one ear that was apparently chewed off by some angry critter in his past. Truffle is housebroken, a wonderful companion in the car, mellow and compliant. His owner relinquished him to us because of one of his other two dogs, a large and very dominant female. On two occasions, when the female became overstimulated (first because of a UPS driver at the gate, and second because of a couple arguing next door), she launched herself at Truffle, and he had to retaliate. The owner was very specific that Truffle never started the arguments. We think he would do well as either the only dog, or as a companion for a submissive, or at least non-dominant, female. This is a great dog who will make a very loved pet for the right home.

"Getting to know Truffle was challenging because he was quite sick when he arrived, and as I gained his trust by hand-feeding him his meds with yummy food, he realized that not all homes and humans are created equal.  He's mellow for a 2-year-old boy, and he's tall and elegant, despite his poor ear."
