"To Archer’s prospective adopters -

We are John & Jose and we currently reside in San Francisco with our 4 year old Doberman, Archer. This has not been an easy decision for us, but we have come to the conclusion that our family and condo living is no longer the safest environment for him. Please know that being in this position has been one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. He is truly a part of our family and we are heart broken.

When we brought him home 3 years ago, he was nothing short of perfect. He was very well behaved, potty trained, smart, obedient and, best of all, fell in love with our then 14 week old, 8lb Australian Terrier puppy, Lola, instantly. He immediately fell on the floor and let her jump and play with him. He seemed to perfectly understand his size and was very gentle and caring with her. A true big brother. We knew adopting a Doberman came with challenges but because of that we dedicated endless hours to his obedience training & behavior lessons.

He is incredibly smart, loving, goofy, loves to cuddle, people-friendly and gentle. He has never destroyed anything in the house. Two of his favorite things are to take long hikes and to play ball. He will sneak onto the sofa, curl up and will consider it his until he is asked politely to leave.

Archer Tis fully vaccinated, neutered, with a clean bill of health from his vet.

Recently, we have noticed Archer becoming more and more protective of Lola around other dogs. At first it seemed manageable but in the last few months, Archer had encounters with 3 dogs, sending one recently to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. One of the first occurrences was with an off leash large dog attacked our Australian Terrier and Archer then turned around and attacked to protect. No one was hurt in this encounter. Condo living in San Francisco with Lola is not where Archer belongs, it has become unsafe and unfit for him.

We feel Archer needs to be in a home where he is the only dog with a yard to run. Preferably with adults that can devote one on one time. He is an amazing companion that has lots of love to give. He is truly one of the best dogs we have ever had. Filled with more love than one can expect and will be at your side unless told otherwise. He will not disappoint. We want Archer to find his forever home and we are doing everything to make this possible. For this reason we are going to be sending him to a boarding school for 30 days at a place where he can be introduced to prospective homes. We are trying our best to rehome him with the best possible resources to succeed. That's how important the right home is for Archer. We want this to be his FOREVER home. He deserves nothing less than the best.

If there are EVER any issues or concerns we prefer he is not rehomed. We will take him back and place him appropriately.
