Mowgli is a new dog we rescued from an animal shelter at the end of July, 2021, moments before the end of his life. He wasn't available for "general" adoption because he had nipped a trainer after being surrendered by his owner due to a move. We discovered shortly after meeting our new rescue boy what likely prompted the nip: he reacts to being grabbed, as by his collar, to restrain him or prevent him from running out the door. He's an active, determined 11-month-old dog who is probably part German Wirehaired Pointer plus a few other unknown breeds. He's wiry in build and weighs only 40 pounds. When introduced to a confident, playful young female dog, he seemed inclined to play as well but didn't seem to have much experience as to how to go about it. The "right" companion might be beneficial to him, but we're not recommending Mowgli for families with kids due to his previous experience with having nipped someone. It will be important for this dog to trust his owner(s) and to live in an environment that isn't overly anxiety-producing or stressful.
