Chihuahua Mix

Peewee was scheduled for euthanasia at an upstate animal shelter, but the comments in his file about loving his walks, being good with dogs and cats, liking car rides, being housebroken, and of course his appearance with his big flyaway ears, drew us in. He failed his temperament test because he growled. What the evaluator didn't know is that growling is his way of communicating, and it's very endearing! He'll growl his little heart out at the same time he's kissing your nose. Peewee was relinquished to the shelter by his owner for unknown reasons. He's 7 years old and he weighs just over 10 pounds.

Volunteer Favorite!
"I just love 'project dogs,' as long as there aren't                     too many at a time.  PeeWee was said by his                     animal shelter to be aggressive; in fact, they even brought him to the volunteer's car in a crate.  His behavior is to growl when he's happy, and the shelter completely misunderstood it!  He would have been put to sleep for expressive himself.  My favorite thing is to hold him an inch from my nose so he can give me wet kisses on my nose while he growls at me. "
