Rescue was requested for Penelope by her animal shelter because she was so insecure. Dogs like this often are the abandoned ones, because they don't leave their "secure" place voluntarily, and they typically can do best with a confident dog companion as well. We partnered Penelope with a confident male and another female, and she's social with both. The shelter recommended (and we agree) a fairly quiet, calm home environment for her with no loud cars, fireworks, loud neighbors, etc. She's about 1 1/2 years old as of January, 2023, and she is lean at 50 pounds.
