Star was found by a Good Samaritan as a stray in rough shape.  Star had been shot in the face and had a gaping hole in his muzzle.  The finders reported him as a found dog and got him the medical care he needed.  After his stray hold was released they reached out to us for rescue help.  While at our vet, he was neutered and had tooth fragments removed that were shattered by the bullet impact.  It also left a hole in the top of his mouth, along the jawline that is most likely permanent.  It is amazing that Star survived such a horrible ordeal and we can't imagine why someone would do such a thing.  He is about 3-4 years old, serious and stoic, but affectionate in his own way.  He has been good with many other dogs but not all dogs so we would need to do introductions with any existing dogs in the home.  He is quite prey driven so we are not recommending him for a home with cats or really small dogs.  Star is quiet, crate trained and aims to please. He is gaining weight slowly now with special feedings.  Dry kibble is difficult with his mouth so we soak his kibble for a few minutes and add a little canned food which he loves.
